Body Optimization Challenging Assumptions

Key: reject dogma (such and such is good/bad for you) and base guidelines/suggestions in science.

Common modern diet/health/fitness assumptions.

  • goalpost assumption which is both:
    • if I don't reach this specific goalpost, the effort/progress doesn't count/matter.
    • once I reach the specific goalpost, I'm done and can just coast.
  • ideal weight (independent of other physiological (often self-imposed; I want to be 15lbs lighter.)
  • ideal shape (promoted by the media)
  • drugs can/should fix anything/everything (advertising promoting the idea that a drug can "fix" you or premature prescription by medical establishment)
